Invite your friends and come enjoy the outdoors as women from GBC get together to walk and talk this summer. We will walk, hike & stroll (some may even meander) along beaches and pathways where we can appreciate God’s creation and unwind a little as we chat and get to know one another. Please join us, whether you come every week or just now and then! All walks start at 4pm.
- August 6 - Neighborhood Walk
- August 13-Bishop's Peak
- August 27-Bob Jones Trail
- September 3-Johnson Ranch
- September 10-Neighborhood Walk
- September 17-Bishop's Peak
Future dates, times and locations will depend on the wishes of those who participate in the above walks. We expect to add more ambitious hikes and other beautiful walks as our walkers desire!
No need to RSVP if you are sure you will be on time. If you do RSVP to Lyn Jones at the church (489-4200) we will wait up to 15 minutes for you if you are late. To arrange carpools (mainly for the Oso Flaco walk), please call Lyn at the church.
Neighborhood Walk: Meet at the Church. There are some moderate hills.
Bishops Peak: Meet at trailhead on Patricia Drive. From Foothill Blvd in San Luis, turn North onto Patricia Dr and go about 0.6 miles. Trailhead will be on your left and parking is on the street. This walk is very strenuous.
Bob Jones Trail: 5.5 mile round trip, mainly level with one small hill (no worse than Rodeo Dr. from Grace Lane up to the park.) This walk runs from near the “schoolhouse” by highway 101 to Avila Beach and back. There are places to stop for coffee, soft drinks and goodies along the way. 1.5-2 hrs if we don’t spend too much time eating/drinking! If interested, we can set up a shuttle so you only have to walk one way (2.25 mi.) Exit 101 at Avila Beach Dr and go about 0.3mi past Avila Hot Springs. Turn right on Ontario Rd. Go across the bridge over the creek and you will find a parking lot on your right.
Johnson Ranch Hike: Just south of San Luis is a somewhat hilly walk through the hills. A 3-mile loop takes us past wildflowers, grazing cattle, beautiful creek beds and lush hills. This is not a level hike, but it is not steep and would be considered an easy hike or an ambitious walk! About 1-hour. From hwy 101 heading north, exit at South Higuera and turn left before you reach the stop sign at the end of the off ramp. Turn left onto South Higuera to go under the freeway and then turn immediately right and park at the trailhead.
