A Word about Visible Joy
How would you portray joyous faith? Here’s my take. On a lake near Donner Pass, I “clicked” one of our grandsons having the time-of-his-life; it was a ball! “Again,” was all Isaac would say as his dad landed him from his launch and flight. “Again,” he’d giggle and scream; “Again!”
Some of us are good at “faith.” But we aren’t exactly overjoyed by having to live by it. It seems so hard. Others seem to be having a smashing-good time, but life has little to do with abiding trust in God.
So, beginning this Sunday, here is where we launch our study in I Peter. Do we dare to be joyful when bold faith is required? Does God give us a smile when our world seems, at best, to be fuzzy? I hope that you will be in the worship center for an on-time worship departure at either 8:45 or 10:30. You know, God wants His people to worship and respond to His word together. So, I’ll see you then!
Also…
- This Saturday afternoon from 4:00 until about 5:30, I’d like to introduce some bold, joyous-faith people to you. They are Matt and Christy Taylor, who are home from Papua New Guinea for a short time. They will tell their story of beginning translation work for a remote tribe, building a house (chainsaw style), and raising children in a world few of us could imagine.
- Sunday noon is our Grace Alive regular luncheon. One of the elements of this joyous time together will be to show you our new church website and how to use it.
- And then, Sunday evening at 6:30 – I believe God wants us to pull together and to pray; to pray kingdom prayers with joyous faith! What does that mean? Well, we will pace ourselves in prayer for an hour using the Lord’s Prayer as our guide. We will spend time in Adoration, Alignment, and Asking. Please, please come and pray!
- Good news! Last week more than $9,500 was given to help the poorest and neediest in our hemisphere. The check is on its way to help in Haiti. If you wish to participate in this relief offering, you may do so thru the church the rest of this month.
From time to time - check out what is happening by going to www.gracevine.com, our church's WEB page. You'll find everything from downloadable sermons to the most recent schedule of events.
And I’ll see you in the pews!
