A Word about "Never Done"
Many tasks in life never are finished? Are you OK, with that? The other day I was removing branches from one of our “ornamental pear trees,” something I am constantly doing - or so it seems. It also seems like branches grow wherever they wish. They certainly have no concern for my design or plan! I guess they just do what is natural. And it is my job to conform the tree to my desire. And that is why the work is never done!
These next two weekends are to be reminders of a work never done – not until Christ returns! I am speaking of the work of missions. Our theme is “A Century of Missions!” And we have the extreme privilege of hosting more than a dozen missional families that are convinced that, even though millions of people have been reached this year with the gospel, the making of disciples in all our world is a life-time calling!
My prayer is that as Jim Yost speaks this Sunday and Dana Ostby the next, and as we meet in classes and homes during the week, every single one of us will listen to God’s voice to carry out this God-commissioned calling. What do you say, “Let’s get on with work!”
As a part of our missional work:
- We are looking for 60 more “helpers” or “group guides” for our amazing Vacation Bible School Experience which happens July 26-30th. You got it – the work is never done! So email back of your readiness to be on the team or contact . Please, let us hear from you this week!
- WAM! Music and Arts Children’s Music Camp begins on the 28th. The worship of God really is never done! Let’s train our children well in a very fun environment!
- Kyle and Linda Chappell, Becca Ashton, and a team of five ESL teachers are getting ready to go to participate in a work never done. Becca is fired-up about getting back to Budapest, Hungry, Kyle and Linda are passionately yet patiently waiting upon God to get them back to Albania, and our incredible short-term ESL team is preparing to do evangelistic work this July in Albania. Let me simply ask you to pray about helping them get back to the work to which God is clearly calling them. Contact Kyle, Becca, or Brent Freeby (or ESL team leader) if you are being led to help!
Ah, don’t forget – allow for more time to get to church – for the work on GRACE LANE – seems like it is “NEVER DONE.”
From time to time - check out what is happening by going to www.gracevine.com, our church's WEB page. You'll find everything from downloadable sermons to the most recent schedule of events.
And I’ll see you in the pews!
