A Word about Hope

blog_soccerYears ago, I hoped to make the college soccer team. To that point in life, my experience had been corralled into high school gym classes. Talk about a wannabe athlete! But I had met the team’s coach the previous April, and he encouraged me, inspired me, and gave me reason to hope. Now I wasn’t particularly optimistic, mind you, but I hoped. Because I hoped, I worked as hard as I could all summer long to gain a few skills and to be physically in shape. By September 2nd, I was 130 pounds of beef and bone! But would I make Nubby McGrath’s team? I sure hoped so!

Did I make the team? I hope to tell you I did.

In a sermon entitled “Finding Hope,” this Sunday Pastor Brian will open God’s Word to help us and our friends see and understand the essence of hope for life and eternity. I’m looking forward to what God lays on Brian’s heart. I’m also looking forward to a wonderful expression of music and worship. So I’m preparing for an on-time departure at 8:45 and 10:30. Oh, and I hope to see you here!
