A Word about Alignment
One summer evening during my high school years, students from our church had an outing at Potawatomie Park on the Fox River in St. Charles, IL. For the most part, it was a great night. That is until someone coaxed me into going out in a rowboat with my sister. There, we attempted the impossible - we each took an oar and tried to row that old wooden hull in a straight line. Somewhere in my possessions there is a photo of these siblings, one of them very agitated, as they spent most of their time going in circles in the middle of the river! Truth-be-told, everyone, including my sister, was laughing… just not me.
Now, I’ve watched tandem-rowing teams before. The word I would use to describe their successful efforts is “alignment.” Everything about them lined up; their timing, their pounds-per-inch of pressure, the length of their stroke. Alignment is huge when it comes to organizational success too. Well, this Sunday we look at Joshua 3-5. And as we do we’ll consider how we need to align our lives not only with each other, but first with God. That is the critical point, isn’t it? We bring our lives into line with Him, not He with us. The sermon is called the “Power of Remembering” And I hope you’ll be with us for our third message in the series, Journeys with Joshua.
