A Blueprint for Living...

Pastor Joe is on vacation, so I am writing his weekly email.

This week we start a new sermon series called "Blueprint For Living". It will focus on Jesus' Sermon on the Mount, found in Matthew 5-7. On Sunday, we will start the series by studying the Beatitudes in Matthew 5:1-12. John Stott, one of my favorite writers on the Sermon on the Mount, wrote, "I have to confess that I myself have fallen under its spell, or rather under the spell of him who preached it. For the last seven years at least I have been constantly pondering it. In consequence, I have found my mind wrestling with its problems and my heart set on fire by the nobility of its ideals."

I, for one, intend to wrestle with Jesus' teaching in the Sermon on the Mount. In the coming months, I am hoping that He will set my heart on fire to live as His sermon challenges me to live. I am also praying this for our church. I hope you will join us this week as we begin to study Jesus' powerful message in the Sermon on the Mount.
