Our History

About_History_01Grace Bible Church was founded in 1876 as the Cumberland Presbyterian Church and later renamed the First Presbyterian Church. It was the first Presbyterian church in California and the first Protestant church on the Central Coast. In 1980 it changed names to Grace Bible Church and remained an independent church until joining the Evangelical Free Church in 1988.

The Evangelical Free Church of America is one of the fastest growing and most respected denominations in the country. It is known for its commitment to the Scriptures, for allowing diversity on minor issues while maintaining unity on major issues, for a strong missions concern, and for granting to each local church complete freedom (hence "Free Church") to govern itself.

Grace Bible Church presently ministers to approximately 1000 people each week,  with a membership of about 550. Our ministries seek to bring encouragement and spiritual growth to every age group in our community. Our many small group ministries continue to expand to meet the ever developing needs of the church body.

Meet the staff of Grace Bible Church.
